• Obituary. Georgie Twitty Georgie Twitty, age 87, of West, passed away late Tuesday evening, August 6, 2002 at West Rest Haven. Funeral services were held 10 a.m. Saturday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, with the Rev. John Crowder officiating. Burial followed at Chapel Hill Memorial Park near Waco. The family received visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Mrs. Twitty was born March 7, 1915, in Hill County, the daughter of Stephen and Sarah (Hixson) Alexander. She lived in the West area for most of her life. She graduated from North Texas Teacher's College in 1940 and received a Masters in Education in 1950. She married Ray Twitty on August 30, 1948 in West. He preceded her in death on June 5, 1993. She worked as a school teacher from 1941 to 1973, She taught first grade for the West Independent School District. She also had taught school in Penelope, Aquilla, New Braunfels, Fort Worth and Casa Piedra. She, along with her husband Ray, owned and operated the "Little Academy" in West from 1965 to 1978. Georgie and Ray volunteered at the West Rest Haven to help out every third Sunday of the month for about six years. She enjoyed music and loved to play the piano and accordion. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and West Community Hospital Ladies Auxiliary. She was also a member of the First Baptist Church in West. She is preceded in death by three brothers, Amos Alexander, Tol B. Alexander and Stephen Alexander and two sisters, Bessie Urban and Willie Faye Tillman. She is survived by a brother-in-law, Delmer Winn Tillman of Garland; two sisters-in-law, Marie Alexander of Abbott and Jewel Bresler of Portalis, New Mexico; serveral nieces and nephews and other relatives. Pallbearers were Jack Felts, Lewis Davis, James Howell, Jimmy Bilbo, Charles Barton and Bacil Tanner. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Building Fund or West Ambulance Association.
